Agus Salim Pangestu

Agus Salim Pangestu is the President Director of Barito Pacific, a diversified industrial and energy group founded by Prajogo Pangestu in 1979. He also serves on the Board of Trustees of Bakti Barito Foundation, Barito Pacific Group’s philanthropic arm through which the company and family channel corporate and personal giving to advance education, environmental stewardship, and community resilience in Indonesia.
As President Director and a member of the Foundation’s board, Agus helps set strategic direction and capital allocation across both corporate and philanthropic portfolios, aligning long-term value creation with building an intergenerational legacy. In 2024, Bakti Barito invested Rp 37.1 billion to support programs that improved the lives of thousands of Indonesians, including initiatives in climate education, stunting prevention, and community livelihoods.
Under his leadership, the broader Barito Pacific Group has mobilized corporate resources to back environmental initiatives, from improved waste management and ocean protection to investments in clean energy, and to encourage private-sector action toward net-zero emissions.
Agus holds senior governance roles across the group: he is President Commissioner of Barito Renewables and serves as Commissioner of Chandra Asri Group, among other affiliated board positions. In these capacities he provides oversight on strategy, risk, and sustainability integration while coordinating cross-company efforts to scale impact and responsible business practices.
He joined Barito Pacific in 1997, was appointed a Director in 1998, then as Vice President Director in 2002, and was named President Director in 2013. Agus began his career as a Financial Analyst at Merrill Lynch from 1995 to 1997.
Agus earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business Administration from Boston College in 1994. He is based in Jakarta and remains actively involved in corporate governance, industry leadership, and philanthropic initiatives connected with his family’s engagements.
