Petrosea Stunting Prevention Programs

The stunting prevention programs at Petrosea’s operational areas, such as the Kideco Jaya Agung (KJA) project in East Kalimantan and the POSB Sorong area in Southwest Papua, embody the company’s commitment to the Health Pillar of its CSR strategy.

The primary objective of these programs (known as Petrocare Stunting at KJA and Tuntas Stunting at POSB) is to combat malnutrition and reduce the incidence of stunting in surrounding communities.

Impact

  • Improved Nutritional Status: In the KJA area in 2023, observations on 97 toddlers who received nutritional intervention showed positive results in increasing children’s height and weight. In the POSB Sorong area, 6 out of 7 children under a 100-day intervention showed an improved growth status to “Normal”.

  • Increased Community Satisfaction (IKM): Overall community satisfaction with Petrosea’s CSR programs, including those focused on health, saw an increase from 3.17 to 3.20 in 2023.

The programs employ a comprehensive, multi-phase approach through close collaboration with local health centers (Puskesmas) and integrated health posts (Posyandu).

  • Screening and Assessment: Initial screening is performed to identify children with potential symptoms of stunting and malnutrition. This is followed by regular check-ups, including anthropometric measurements and complete blood count checks (Pemeriksaan Darah Lengkap), especially for anemia (Tingkat HB < 11.5).

  • Nutritional Intervention (PMT): Provision of Supplementary Feeding (Pemberian Makanan Tambahan or PMT) is a core activity, often provided monthly during Posyandu service hours and sometimes extended to daily healthy meals for children under intervention for periods like 100 days (as seen in the POSB Tuntas Stunting program).

  • Capacity Building: Educating mothers and prospective parents is crucial. Activities include “Bimbingan perkawinan” (pre-marital counseling) and health counseling for prospective mothers in Batu Sopang, and “Kelas Ibu Hamil” (classes for pregnant women) focusing on nutrition and prenatal care in Sorong.

  • TAS BATIK EMAS Program: At the PSF Balikpapan site, Petrosea implements “aTASi BAlita StunTIng untuK Generasi EMAS” (Addressing Stunting for Golden Generation Toddlers), which includes the distribution of supplementary food and vitamins.
